Design And Usability
Danby 50 pint is a good-looking dehumidifier. Its simplistic, modern approach concealed the ventilation by the sides and back. At around 15.4 x 19.8 x 11.1 inches in dimension, it is around the size of a 30-pint equivalent but with a much heavier weight. The 41.5 lb in weight excluding any water in the front reservoir can be hard to maneuver. Fortunately, there are 4 casters available to help with the transporting. The reservoir can be slide in and out with ease for emptying. There is also a small peeping indicator to check on the water level. Besides the air inlet and outlet spot, there’s a drain outlet at the back that allows you to connect directly with a garden hose for water dispersion.
Moving to the top control panel. There are 8 buttons, 1 digital display, and plenty of LED indicator lights. Starting from the left, you have a Danby unique Smart dehumidify button that can be turned on or off. In Smart dehumidify mode, it will automatically set the humidity and fan speed based on nearby temperature and dampness. Next is the filter button used to reset the filter indicator light after you have washed the filter. The middle continuous mode will set the dehumidifier to run continuously in draining the moisture. The fan button will cycle between low/ high speed (with indicator light) on press. Timer button will on/ off the countdown timer and you control the timer via the up/ down button next to it. Incidentally, you can also adjust the desired humidity between 35-85% via the arrows button. Last but not least, the power button is self-explanatory.
Going back to the specification, there’s the usual washable filter, timer, casters, and multiple drainage options. Go with the DDR050BJWDB model for the basic non-pump version or DDR050BJPWDB that comes with a vertical pump. Danby 50 Pint is Energy Star rated with 2 years warranty on parts and labor. As for safety features, auto shut off and auto defrost are here as standard. The dehumidifier will stop working when the water tank is full and perform defrosting as long as the temperature is not lower than 41ºF (5ºC). Auto-restart is also here that will resume back the operation after a power outage.
Dehumidification Technology
Danby 50 Pint delivers more than sufficient dehumidification and musty smell removal for your everyday needs. It will absorb surrounding moisture consistently with no hiccups. The 50-pint output can cover up to 3,000 square feet of space at 24 hours period. We have no problem running the dehumidifier even at a low-speed setting. In fact, most of you will not opt for high speed unless you need a quick dehumidifier. With the large water tank, we recommend using Danby in a damp environment at the living hall, master bedroom, basement, or garage with water damage and mold infestation issue.
An equivalent to a refrigerator that uses the same technology. All 50-pint dehumidifiers use the proven and effective refrigeration method that swiftly reduce home humidity level below 50%. First, the pulled-in air will have to pass through a filter that blocks dust, mold, and other large particles. The high moisture air that manages to get past the filter will move into the dehumidifier refrigerate coils for condensation. The wet air will then be cool down and turn into water droplets for the bucket to collect or pump straight out via a continuous drain. Once the air is separated from the water, the heating compressor will convert the dry air into the mist for dispersion.
The difference can be between day and night. Danby 50 Pint Dehumidifier is silent at low speed but fairly noisy at high speed.
