Design And Usability
There’s no mistake of TOSOT 70 pint dehumidifier even from far. At 14.8 x 24 x 11.4 in and 51.8 lb weight (excluding water), it is gigantic and will not fit into a small room well. The front wave ventilation is highly functional although some would prefer a more simplistic approach. The drain bucket with a water indicator is located at the usual spot. Removing it is easy thanks to the swivel handle and spill-resistant baffles. The washable filter is tuck inside the machine that can be slide out after you have taken out the bucket. Other notable features include 4 casters for movability and a top control panel. The premium model comes with a built-in pump and a back drainage outlet that supports a standard garden hose.

Let’s go through the control 1 by 1. To the most left, you have the power button will indicator light. Next to it is the filter button that resets the filter timer (after 250 hours of runtime). Press the button after you have washed the filter. Right at the center, there are two humidity buttons (-/+) that will add or minus humidity by 5% per click. You can set the relative humidity level between 35% to 80%. You can also activate nonstop mode by repeatedly pressing the – button until the screen shows NS with the nonstop indicator light lit. The fan speed button will cycle between high, medium, and low with the indicator showing the mode you’re in. The timer button can be set to either turn on or off the machine. On press, it will cycle between 2 or 4 hours.
Continue on, you can activate pump mode by connecting a drain hose to the back outlet, then press and hold the pump button for 3 seconds. Other passive features include an alarm sound that beeps for 10 seconds when the bucket is full, missing, or not inserted correctly for more than 3 minutes.
To recap on the specification, you have a large front reservoir, washable air filter, timer, and drainage option. GDN70BA-A3EBA2C is the basic version while GDN45BA-A3EBA2B comes with a built-in pump. Supporting features include power outage restart that resumes the operation once power is restored, anti-frosting that prevent ice buildup, and auto shut-down after the drain bucket is full.
Dehumidification Technology
70 pint or 45 capacity per day under new DOE 2019. There's no stopping TOSOT 70 pint dehumidifier in removing moisture and moldy smell. At a maximum performance, it can swiftly reduce room humidity between 3000-4500 square feet of room space. Throughout our test, the moisture removing power is consistent even in very low temperatures. Perfect for winter season especially in a confined room like garage or basement. For a bedroom or bathroom, you can set it at low speed but the power output can be overkill for a large 70-pint dehumidifier.
TOSOT 70-pint dehumidifier refrigeration technology works just like an air conditioner. It sucks air in, passes through a filter, and blows hot air out. When the moist air is pulled into the freezing cold pipes, the water vapor will be separated from the air and slowly drip down to a bucket. If continuous drainage mode is used, the water will drip down to a floor drain instead. The dry air will then be reheated and blow out from the top outlet back to the room. The cycle will repeat itself until the humidity level falls below 50%. Not only mold, mildew, dust mite, and other microorganisms will no thrive under this condition, you will breathe and sleep better without having to go through irritating allergies like cough, sneeze, headache.
Tosot 70-pint is not a subtle dehumidifier. Out of the 3 fan speeds, expect little noise at low speed, audible noise at mid speed, and very loud fan noise at high speed. For night use, we suggest using it at low speed and place it as far as possible so it will not disturb your sleep. On the contrary, power consumption is pretty decent for an Energy Star 70-pint unit. If your home has water damage and rust due to high humidity, you can confidently leave Tosot 70-pint dehumidifier running 24x7 to tackle the issue.Price Guide
Let's talk about price. Tosot 70 Pint is slightly cheaper than its rival at around 250 without a pump (GDN70BA-A3EBA2C). Tosot 70 pint dehumidifier with pump (GDN45BA-A3EBA2B) is about 50 premium more. Generally, we would recommend our reader to go for the non-pump version as you could easily hook it with an external pump with the same result. In any case, both variants will get you all the safety features and functions to fiddle around with.Pros
